Brake Bladder - Yak 52, Yak 50, Yak 18-T, Factory, Unused, (Price Each)
Russian Factory molded Bladders for the Main wheels that use Yakovlev's Pneumatic Brake Puck system,
Air from the PU-8 proportional valve inflates this bladder, expanding its cross section, pushing the pucks outward against the inner surface of the drum brake. Pulsing the brake lever on the control column is more effective than holding continuous pressure.
New Yak operators are cautioned against using this braking system simultaneously with power, or long, slow taxiing, (such as when in formation for example). Both situations can overheat the braking system at which point brake fade can be alarming at the very least.
