Cooling Gills assembly, Yak 52, Factory remanufactured
There are a LOT of moving parts in your Yak 52's Cooling Gills assembly.
If inspecting and overhauling each vane, each drive pin, each axle and spring clip seems a daunting task, despair not ! There is a faster route. These Factory Overhauled assemblies have had all that done for you by experts with access to the right parts.
That Vperod propeller will need to come off, but, with the mounting brackets included in the kit, installation is as convenient as bolting this assembly onto your nose case and connecting the control cable.
The round front plate (by which the gills may be closed by hand), evaded being photographed, but is included.
Delivery is 4 weeks FRO

Yak 50 / Yak 18-T / CJ Cooling Gill Louver Axle rework kit
This kit includes a re-usable plastic drill bushing template (plus three steel bushings with lock nuts) to repair Cooling Gills that have excessive movement because of wear in their axle support holes.
This template will accurately locate the center of the Gill Vane Axle before damage occurred.
After removing several Gills either side of the damaged location, lock your template in position.
Do this by pressing two of the short M4 Gill Vane Positioning Screws you just removed through the two smaller holes in the template and into aligned holes beneath.
A fence molded in to the template ensures correct edge distance.
These hardened drill bushings will keep your 5/16” diameter drill bit centered and on a true perpendicular axis. Remember to remove material with the least drill pressure required because the plastic template may soften if excess heat is generated.
Insert the hex head of the new axle support bushing next to the lower end of the Gill Vane and secure the bushing on its far side with the MS21042-4 locknut supplied.
Use a 100 degree piloted countersink to prepare the outer fishplate for the newer Yak 52 style Axle that has a slotted countersunk head.
Installing these bushings with a Yak 52 style axle eliminates the lower double locknuts which are difficult to adjust - creates a robust bearing surface between the aluminum ring and the new steel bushing and provides easy axle tension adjustment using a flat blade screwdriver.
Additional repair bushings, TYC0222, are available
REPAIR BUSHING, GILL AXLE INNER BEARING, BAG OF 3
This plated steel bushing is used to repair the lower axle bearing in the inner ring where Cooling Gills have excessive lower end movement due to a worn bearing hole.
A MS21042-4 ( 1/4-28) locknut is included with each bushing.
Yak 50, Yak 18T and CJ6 Nanchang inner rings have a 4mm hole to support the axle which is then double nutted below. After many hours of vibration this hole will have worn bigger and its center is no longer where it should be.
For more about this part, read about the Parent Kit with template, TYC0221
Screw, drilled head, Gill Vane Position
These factory screws are notorious for developing flats when vibration from the Gill Vane's lower yoke creates wear on their shaft.
For a long time, Craig Payne used to sell these drilled-head screws in Stainless ( Shown at top)
TYC now has them available in a hardened alloy for longer life.
