This bracket is often one of the casualties from an unplanned encounter with Terra Firma.
Such as a gear-up.
The aileron takes a hit and with it, this guy. This is the outboard-most hinge, the inboard ones are different.
Quite a drama to remove and reinstall too. You'll be cutting holes in the underwing skin and visiting the Cherry Max rivet shop.
Let's look on the bright side. They're super affordable...!! And come with the swivel bearing pre-installed.

Yak 55 and 55M Scott 3200 Tailwheel adaptor
Alaskan Bushwheel Industries ( Scott Pattern) 3200 Tailwheel provides full castoring and breakout for improved ground handling. The Yak Collection's adaptor mates this tailwheel to the existing Yak 55 tailwheel strut using three bolts ( suppplied). The aftermarket Axle and Non-Friction bearing are both very difficult to remove from the ABI 3200 and are also provided in TYC's kit.
- Tension springs ARE NOT provided.
- This modification WILL AFFECT Weight and Balance of your airplane.
- This modification WILL REDUCE Prop Clearance, even though only by a small amount. We measured 1/4 to 1/2"" reduction in Propeller Clearance.

This fuselage has had all electrical wiring, pneumatic lines and flight controls removed- and is stripped and ready for paint.
The wing attach points have the 59 AD heavy spar modification.
To save weight, the previous owners had intended to refit the aircraft with the command levers in the front pit only and a minimal rear cockpit. The project foundered and this fuselage has been stored inside for several years.
The primary controls & mechanisms to connect to control surfaces are available separately.
This fuselage’s sheet metal is very straight and in excellent condition.
Price is FOB El Cajon CA 92020. Can crate or ship anywhere at additional cost.

Yak 52 Wingtip Rib - Repro, Port or Starboard
In the unfortunate event of a gear up, the Yak 52’s wingtip rib often seems to take the brunt of the damage. (The next most frequent casualties are ailerons & the outer aileron support bracket).

These Port and Starboard Yak 52 wingtip ribs have been hand-formed from over a steel pattern, developed from a scan of a new factory part. .
They are supplied clear anodized with Dichromate coating for best paint adhesion.
When closing up the wing tip, dimpling the flange on these ribs is recommended to complement legacy rivet holes in the wing skin, which at the tip is just .025”’thick.
We had best luck with CR3242-5-2 Cherry Max rivets, formed examples are shown here. The condition and size of the legacy rivet holes in the skin will have a lot to do with the choice - your mechanic will have their own preference.
These ribs have the recessed formed hole - but without the four nut plates.
(Our field research revealed that both the orientation and bolt circle diameter of these nut plates vary from one Yak to the next, so we have left them for you to create!
One purpose for that hole, by the way, is to accept a stout bar to take the weight of the outer portion of the wing during separation from the fuselage. You will notice other aligned holes in adjacent inboard ribs.
This hole is also convenient for mounting wingtip Skybeacon ADS-B devices.)
After the emotions of the moment have subsided, actual gear-up airframe damage is rarely as bad as it looks.

Yak 52 Nose Gear, upper pivot axles and bushings kit
The Yak 52 Nose gear upper pivot has 4 steel outrigger bushings in the fuselage and 4 bronze bushings in the upper ears of the pivoting nose gear leg, shown as item 3 in the diagram.
The bronze bushings will fail first, evidenced by side to side play in the nose gear leg.
These reproduction steel axles have the nominal 16mm OD size, but the bushings are supplied .002" undersize, so after installation in the gear leg, you can line ream the bronze bushings to the fit desired.
The axles are center drilled and grease Zerk fittings are included.
Spiral grooves in the bronze bushings distribute grease to the bearing surfaces.
New nuts and Cotter pins are not included in the kit so please retain your originals !
